How Long Do I Have to File a Personal Injury Claim in Florida?

Personal injury claims are limited state and federal laws called statutes of limitations. The laws differ from state by state, but each law effectively limits how long an injury victim has to file a claim before losing the legal right to do so. Losing your right to file a claim means losing your legal right to pursue compensation for your injuries and losses.

Florida Statutes section 95.11(3)(a) was recently amended and imposes a two (2) statute of limitations on personal injury claims. It is important to note that other types of claims apply a shorter or longer time limitation on filing claims.
